YACHT MARINA AND ANCHORAGE

At present there is no designated Yacht Marina though plans are there to build one. However there is an excellent anchorage area between the Villingili island just west of Male' and the island of Male' itself. This calm spot is ideal for anchoring cruise vessels and yachts. The anchorage area for commercial and larger vessels harbour is north and north east of this area. At present due to certain reasons, only one berth in the port is generally available for commercial vessels with a length of 101 meters. The general draft in both the anchorage areas is over 10 meters deep.

CRUISING PERMITS WITHIN THE MALDIVES

A permit is required for cruising within Maldivian waters. This should be obtained before the vessels arrival in Male' in order to save idling in port. This permit takes about 5-7 working days to obtain. To simplify your task, you are advised to intimate us of the following information well in advance.

  Technical details of your vessel
  The number of crew and passengers
  Specify the atolls, around which you intend to cruise or go yachting
  The tourist resorts you will be visiting during your cruise
